Our Turkey Day Night Excitement

Ok, this is a little late in coming but I wanted to share the little bit of excitement we had Thanksgiving night.  At 1am.  When I was getting up at 4am to do a little Black Friday shopping.  And Rose had woken up at 11:30pm crying and wouldn’t go back to sleep until after 12.  I was finally fast asleep when I was woken by the sound of breaking glass.  Oh the thoughts that ran through my head.  Was someone breaking in?  Was it an animal?  Oh please let it be an animal.  So I did the only thing I could think of.  Yelled, and mean yelled loud enough to scare away anyone who thought no one was home, and send Steve down to investigate.

Steve went downstairs and found this.

The first winter after we built the house, the transom window on the other side of this area, broke in the middle of the night.  There was a screw pressing on the glass and when the outside got cold enough, the inside plate grew with enough difference to break.  It looks like, 5 years later, this one did the same thing.

So we spent the next half hour cleaning up the glass so that our little explorer wouldn’t get cut and then boarded up the window with a unfolded diaper box.  3 hours later I headed into town for a little shopping.  Gotta love caffeine.  🙂

On a side note, this is my new favorite picture.
